Queens in New York may not be as popular and well-known as Manhattan and Brooklyn, but Queens is definitely worth visiting. Queens is very large and it includes Long Island City, Astoria and Flushing. And from the Long Island City neighborhood, you can be in Central Park in ten minutes. So will you be taking a city trip to New York soon? Then also visit the Queens neighborhood.

Queens is a very smart base if you are visiting New York for the second or third time. The hotels and restaurants on this side of the East River are a lot cheaper than in the rest of New York. And there is plenty to do in Queens, and sports fans should definitely not skip this neighborhood!

Long Island City

Long Island City abbreviated as ( LIC )is an upcoming area in New York. You’ll find this neighborhood in Queens across Manhattan north of Brooklyn. If you look across the water from Long Island City you have a nice view of the Chrysler Building. Long Island City is also a great place to look for a hotel if you want to avoid the high prices of Manhattan. There is also no shortage of art and culture in Queens, as you can visit the MoMA PS1, which is part of the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. Long Island City is easily reached by subway, or by NYC Ferry.

Astoria

Astoria in Queens is one of the most versatile neighborhoods in New York City. Astoria is east of Manhattan, below The Bronx and above Brooklyn. It’s a neighborhood that many tourists skip when visiting New York, and that’s a shame. Because there is plenty to see and do in Astoria. Many different cultures come together in Astoria. And that’s why you can eat at restaurants with influences from all over the world. Perhaps the most beautiful spot in Astoria is Astoria Park. This is where you come to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, and to enjoy stunning views.

If you like good food then you can totally indulge yourself in this Astoria. Fans of Greek cuisine in particular will enjoy this place, but if you like Italian or Brazilian, it is also a foodie heaven. And if you are a fan of comic books visit the Midtown Comics Outlet. This outlet has two floors of thousands of used and new comic books, action figures and collectibles.

Flushing

Flushing takes its name from the Dutch “Vlissingen,” and it is actually the chinatown of Queens, and this one is even bigger than the one in Manhattan. Flushing also has New York’s largest Chinese community. And in this vibrant Chinatown located next to Corona Park, you can eat delicious food. And it offers fun shopping opportunities at numerous street vendors and small businesses that sell distinctive goods and foods not available anywhere else.

Flushing is the perfect neighborhood for visitors who enjoy an active lifestyle, as it offers a wide range of activities. In Flushing Meadows you will find Corona Park with rowing pond, tennis courts, baseball diamonds and many other recreational facilities. The Queens Museum and the New York Hall of Science, are also located in Corona Park. There are also many larger shopping centers and malls nearby, such as the Queens Crossing Mall and the SkyView Center. To get to Flushing you can take subway line 7 to Mets-Willets Point, the park is near here
