9/11 really needs no introduction. I think everyone has heard of this terrible attack that killed 2983 people. All their names are engraved in bronze, surrounding the two enormous water tanks that are in exactly the same place as the Twin Towers and form the heart of the 9/11 memorial in New York.

Both the Twin Towers and many other World Trade Center buildings collapsed from the attacks or were later demolished due to the massive damage. Most trees in the Ground Zero area also did not survive the attacks, but one tree that was found severely damaged by rescuers survived after good and extensive care. And this tree, which was named “the Survival Tree”, now stands at the 9/11 monument among many other trees. The Survival Tree is a living reminder of the events at Ground Zero. It represents resilience and survival. The tree can be found next to the South Tower Pool.
