Little Island in New York is a special artificial island in the Hudson River Park, near Pier 55 in the Chelsea neighborhood. A visit to little Island is really worthwhile, especially the architecture and the many types of trees, flowers and plants are wonderful to see.

Little Island in the Hudson River Park is an urban park designed by the Heatherwick Studio and opened in 2021. Little Island is 0.97 hectares in size. And the structure of the park consists of 280 concrete piles protruding into the riverbed. Built atop the piles are 132 pot-shaped structures ( called “tulips”) that vary in height and width.

The landscape on Little Island was designed by Signe Nielsen of Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects, and consists of three lawns, sixty-six thousand bulbs, 35 tree species, 65 shrub species and more than 270 species of perennials and grasses. With more than 20 piers, including Pier 55 on which Little Island is built, Hudson River Park offers countless options. such as playgrounds, sports fields events, culture and beautiful views of the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline.

A visit to Little Island is also great to combine with a visit to Hudson Yards. In fact, this is one of the hot spots in New York city that you should definitely visit.
