The Friends experience in New York: Is it worth it?
The Friends Experience in New York City is an exhibition about the iconic TV series Friends. Spread over two floors you will find various reproductions of the sets and several original outfits of the characters from the series. The Friends Experience in New York started in 2019 as a temporary exhibition, but due to the popularity of the exhibition, it was decided to make it a permanent attraction. We have visited The Friends Experience for you and in this blog we will tell you everything about this exhibition and whether a visit is really worth it.
The iconic TV series Friends
The iconic TV series Friends is a popular comedy from the 90s. It was about the lives of six New York friends, Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe. The TV series was extremely popular among young people because there was always a character in the TV series with whom they could identify.
The Friends Experience in New York
The comedy series Friends ended in 2004 and the series finale, The Last One, aired in the United States on May 6, 2004. But the TV series remained popular and was often watched on various streaming services. Partly due to the enduring popularity of the series, The Friends Experience was created in New York.
What can you see in The Friends Experience?
The Friends Experience in New York consists of 2 floors with 18 rooms and activities, including Monica and Rachels’ apartment, Chandler and Joey’s apartment, the Friends fountain, the legendary orange bank, Phoebe’s iconic yellow cab and the Coffee Shop, Central Perk. There is also a section where you can view props and costumes used during the filming of the TV series.
The visit to The Friends Experience
At the start of The Friends Experience you will be placed in a room where a supervisor will give safety instructions for the visit and you will see a film that tells the history of the TV series Friends. Then your visit begins by passing a reproduction of the iconic fountain from the TV series. Then you go from room to room to admire the different reproductions of the sets from the TV series. At the end of the tour you will enter a recreation of the Central Perk Coffee Shop, where you can also have a hot drink like your favorite characters.
Is there a time limit in each room?
No, there is no time limit on the rooms you want to visit. You can stay in the room as long as you want to admire the room and its decor and take photos or videos.
Take photos during the tour
You will receive a QR code at the start of the activity and at each location it will be scanned and a photo will be taken of you. At the end you will receive one photo for free and then you will have the option to purchase the others. You can of course also take photos and videos yourself with your phone or camera.
The Friends Experience souvenir shop
In the souvenir shop of The Friends Experience you will find hundreds of products that all have to do with the popular TV series Friends, such as t-shirts, mugs, books, board games and exclusive souvenirs that can only be purchased in the souvenir shop of The Friends Experience .
Order a cup of coffee at Central Perk
At the end of the tour you will arrive at the Central Perk Coffee Shop. This Coffee Shop is a reproduction of the Coffee Shop from the TV series. The interior is decorated exactly as in the film. you can drink a hot drink and buy a muffin in the Central Perk. Then you can take a seat on the legendary orange sofa and enjoy your drink and your muffin like your favorite characters from the TV series.
Can you visit the Friends apartment in New York?
If you would also like to admire the Friends apartment after visiting the Friends Experience in New York, you can find it at 90 Bedford St in the Greenwich Village district of New York. Monica’s famous apartment complex can only be admired from the outside. The apartment was never actually filmed and only a fragment of the outside of the building was used for the TV series.
Our opinion about The Friends Experience in New York
We visited the Friends Experience in New York with a group, some of whom were fans of the TV series and some of whom were not. And if you are a fan of the TV series and of Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe, then you should definitely not miss this attraction. As a fan, it is truly an incredible feeling to walk the halls, turn your head and see the sets you are used to seeing on television. But if you are not a fan of the TV series Friends and its characters, you should skip this experience.
How much does an entrance ticket to the Friends Experience cost?
Children under 3 years old have free admission. Otherwise the price starts from €51.07 from 4 years. And it is best to buy your entrance ticket in advance, because on site it costs €65 excluding tax per person.

The Fiends Experience is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 7pm.

The Friends Experience in New York is located at 130 East 23rd St. (corner of East 23rd St and Lexington Avenue). It’s not far from the Flatiron Building.
