Central Park Zoo in New York is one of the oldest zoos in America. More than 130 different species of animals live in this zoo. And there is a nice petting zoo where goats, sheep, cows, and other furry creatures live.

This beautiful and most famous zoo in New York was founded in 1871 and covers 2.6 hectares (26,000 m²). And more than 130 different species of animals live there. Central Park Zoo is part of The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which also manages The Bronx Zoo, The New York Aquarium, The Prospect Park Zoo and The Queens Zoo. Collectively, these parks have more than 400 million visitors every year.

The Central Park Zoo is a nice zoo with different types of animals, all of which are worth admiring.

Snow leopards

Snow leopards are beautiful animals that normally live high in the Asian hills. They are very rare animals because there are only a few thousand left in the world. Fortunately, you can still admire them in The Central Park Zoo, where they have a good and safe home.

Grizzly bears

Central Park Zoo is also home to a pair of beautiful grizzly bears, which were rehomed after being orphaned in the wild.

Tisch Children’s Zoo

Tisch Children’s Zoo is part of Central Park Zoo in NYC. This is a nice place for children, because they can pet animals here and, for a small fee, feed them. In Tisch Children’s Zoo you will mainly find smaller animals, such as sheep, goats, pigs and Manhattan’s only cow. Admission is included with Central Park Zoo tickets.

Is The Central Park Zoo in New York worth a visit?

If you do go to Central Park, then a visit to The Central Park Zoo in New York is definitely worth it. The Zoo is not as large as the Bronx Zoo, but there are plenty of nice animals to admire and there is a nice petting zoo for the children.
